Hi Barry,
Thanks for your question. The last time I asked myself this question, one answer (there was more than one) was that while my life as a therapist was extremely fulfillng, what has been happening in my culture disturbed and concerned me deeply and that if I didn't respond to this call to more actively respond to what is happening around me, not just within my own life and that of my clients, I would continue to feel disempowered and my life (although a very good one) would continue to hurt. In terms of how I found my way back to center, this feels like a process I am engaged in on a regular basis, finding my way back, moving away from, finding my way back again. Engaging in a mindfulness practice has been extremely helpful. Also, attempting to keep my actions as congruent as possible with my values has helped.
I'd love to hear how your own response to your questions.

Sometimes homes themselves can be such sanctuaries, but the home I now live in and love, has additionally allowed me to find my own inner sanctuary. I am still deeply appreciative of the embrace I feel when I walk through the door after a day at work. Your home is more than your castle. Thank you for sharing the story and the poem.

Blessings to you and your family,
Sherry
